Jumping, running, climbing, and keeping our balance during complex movements have been key to our survival for thousands of generations. Through our ability to employ our motor functions we have survived and developed vast, instinctual movement systems in the process. Today most people call these activities “exercise.” We call them Primal Movement.

With much of the day spent sat a desk, on the couch or in a car, our ability to perform these very basic primal movements has been compromised. These 7 fundamental movements develop in utero and continue through infancy, they include: bend (hinge), squat, lunge, push, pull, twist, and gait.

In this Primal Movement somatic workshop we combine mindfulness, physical movement and somatic practices to help us become more mindful of our bodies and our movement. These sessions focus on the integration of body, mind, and spirit through the practice of movement and somatic awareness.
