My Birding Dilema
At the start of lockdown I started feeding 2 young robins on worms/grubs in the garden.
They soon became so tame they ‘demanded’ more food, flying into the kitchen, eating biscuit crumbs from the dog bowl and sitting on the kitchen beam chirping for more! I’ve been feeding them (outside!) all winter but a bit concerned about leaving the kitchen door open. I do hope they have forgotten their fledgling habits!!
A recent Facebook poll of Witney Garden Birds
Bird Crazy
The Other day in Sainsbury’s I went to by some bird seed and the shelf was nearly bare. ‘You can blame that woman on I Love Witney’ a customer said ‘she’s got us all bird crazy’. Well Done Dianne
How long do you think it took for the person to come up with the name - Blackbird ?
Just Asking
Getting to Know your Birds better
A recent poll of Witney Garden Birds included, in descending order : Wood Pigeon, Blackbird, Robin, Blue Tit, House Sparrow, Starling, Magpie, Great Tit, Greenfinch, Wren, Dove, Dunnock, Crow, Long Tailed Tit, Chaffinch, Western Jackdaw, Wagtail, Turtle Doves, Bullfinch, Raven, Nuthatch, Cole Tit, Barn Owl, House Martin, Siskin.
Some people did include The Red Kite and the Sparrowhawk but we didn’t really think these were garden birds.
(Based upon our experience of polls, I do hope the Crow won’t be threatening the Wood Pigeon with Legal Action !!!)
