Vic Powles grew up in Monmouth, South Wales where he picked up an interest in photography from his father, “he taught me by example, one thing I learnt from him was the value of checking that there is film in the camera before you travel to take portraits of relatives, the horror of opening an empty camera when you get home ensures notoriety within the family for decades”.

His interest in photography cooled in his late teens as other interests came along, but he kept an eye on photography, cameras, and the evolving digital format. In January 2011, he bought his first Nikon DSLR. Vic’s main interests are the countryside, landscape, aerial and some wildlife photography. “I enjoy editing my images in Lightroom and Photoshop, usually with a glass of wine nearby. In 2016 I began taking photos of people and musicians enjoying themselves at local gigs and festivals, the pandemic has stopped all that for now, but I am enjoying getting back out in the countryside when rules allow”. \

Vic moved to West Oxfordshire in 1989, he is  a design engineer for a local company and lives in Ducklington with his partner, their teenage daughter and a cat known as ‘cooking fat’.
