APEROL SPRITZ
The Spritz has been around since 1800. Invented in Veneto the addition of soda water came about because visitors to the area were not used to the strength of the local wines.
Any Bitters can be used: Aperol, Campari of Aperitivo Select. It is usually made with Prosecco although any sparkling wine can be used. Either Soda water or sparkling mineral water can be used to top the drink.
It is usually served over ice in a tall wine glass and garnished with a slice of orange.
It oozes Mediteranean flavours and is slightly akin to a Negroni in its taste.
